for at least the first foot of soil to minimize chance of auger kick-out

Use long-handled shovel to clear away cuttings when auger has stopped

Do not wear loose clothing

Wear appropriate PPE including leather gloves and steel-toed boots

Do not walk under suspended loads

When possible, remove overhead hazards promptly
